Atlantis: The Lost Empire deserves a live action remake

– A Dolphin

In the year 2001 Disney released the animated movie “Atlantis: The Lost Empire” an amazing movie about a man named Milo Thatch and his obsessive quest to find the legend that is the lost city of Atlantis. But, I am not here to tell you what the movie is about. You need to watch the movie and experience it for yourself. I am here for one purpose, and that is to tell you why this movie deserves a live action remake.

We currently live in an era where Disney is remaking classic animated movies and some of them are just ok and not spectacular like, I personally, was hoping they would be. So why not remake this movie? I truly believe that it could make an amazing and stunning remake, especially with where technology for movies are today. Over many posts I will be writing about the reasons why I believe it deserves a live action remake.

The Perfect Live Action Cast

I have met all of these people. And they are good people!

-Daisy Ridley

Milo Thatch

Michael J. Fox. Mr. Fox is the perfect fit for Milo mainly because in the film “Back To The Future” his costar is called “Doc” and there is a doctor in this movie.

Commander Rourke

James Garner. He is the perfect choice. But sadly he passed away, so Rourke can not be in the movie.

Princess Kida

Cree Summer. She was Numbuh five in Code Name Kids Next Door. So she is the obvious choice.

Cookie

Jim Varney. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky. And I love that city. Cookie also says that the four basic food groups are “beans, bacon, whiskey, and lard” and being from Kentucky I am positive he supports that.

Vinny

Don Novello. This man was in The Godfather Park III. So he needs to be in every movie.

Dr. Sweet

Phil Morris. He looks like he could play the role of a doctor.

Helga

Claudia Christina. She voiced people in Skyrim. Which is a good game.

Audrey

Jacqueline Obradors. I think Audrey should be played by someone much older than Audrey is portrayed in the original animated film. Miss Obradors fits that perfectly.

Mrs. Packard

Literally any old woman who smokes cigarettes.

Mr. Harcourt

David Ogden Stiers. Mr. Harcourt is a jerk in the original animated fiml. Mr. Stiers seems very nice and could fix that.

Preston Whitmore

John Mahoney. Mr. Mahoney has also passed away. So the character can not exsist.

Moliere

Corey Burton. He has done a lot of voice acting. So surely he can play a short, fat, french dude who is obsessed with dirt.

The Atlantean King

Also any really really old man with long hair and a long beard.

Directors Who I Think Could Do Atlantis Justice

Yup, these are some good directors!

-William Dafoe

Guillermo Del Toro

Okay, so I know this is kind of a weird pick. But just hear me out. I think Del Toro could do a good job, simply because he could do a great job with some creative freedom. He has directed movies with weird and crazy looking creatures before. So I think he could do an amazing job designing the city of Atlantis itself. I said in a previous post that there was room for creative freedom, and I think he fits that perfectly. The creatures that he could design that live around the city could look pretty dang cool and would fit in nicely. He has also directed some action films that are pretty fun to watch, so his action scenes as well could be cool.

Brad Bird

Look I’m not sure what to write here. My friend Eli Shap Smith told me to put him on here. He is a great director, and I love his movies. But all of his best animated movies are all animated, and his two live action ones aren’t very good. But yeah he could do a good job.

Christopher Nolan

Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite directors. He has directed some incredible movies. (Not Interstellar). And I think he would really bring this movie to life. Atlantis has a certain tone of seriousness and a little darkness in it that I think he could nail. I also think he would put together the perfect cast for this movie.

Dennis Villeneuve

He directed Arrival. Which is a really good movie. So that’s why.

One Russo Brother and One Coen Brother

I don’t really care which brother works with the other brother. Lets see what two families can come up with to make a live action Atlantis.

Steven Spielberg

He’s directed a lot of movies, some of the best movies ever. So he is kind of an obvious choice.

James Cameron

Okay. Here it is, the most obvious choice. Cameron directed the 2009 movie “Avatar”, which is very similar to Atlantis: The Lost Empire. The world of Avatar is visually stunning. The creatures in the world are amazing. The people he created are weird and stand out. Cameron could really bring the world of Atlantis to life in a way no other director could. He would also be able to bring the story to life as well. Cameron could put together a stunning world outside of Atlantis, and the undersea exploration part could stand out the most with him at the helm. Cameron is probably the best choice considering what he did with Avatar.

What do others think of “Atlantis: The Lost Empire”

Some of these people think good things of “Atlantis”

-Meryl Streep

You all know what I think of “Atlantis: The Lost Empire” so I thought that it would be nice to find out what some other people thought of this great movie. So here are some quotes of what they think.

“Atlantis is a pretty good movie”- Eli Shap Smith

“I don’t care leave me alone”- Lora Bailey (Loving sister)

“I want to play Kida so bad. I was born to play her.”- Zendaya

“Atlantis: The Lost Empire has the potential to be a James Cameron-esque sci-fi epic, and the fact that a live action remake has not already been announced by Disney is a tragedy”- Also Eli

“That movie sux”- Uncultured Swine

“This should have been what my presidential campaign was about”- Barrack Obama

I got a kind of long quote from a friend but the only thing that stood out in that quote to me was “I’m not a fan” so that is all that really matters folks

“Atlantis: The Lost Empire was extremely influential to me in my childhood, giving me an expanded sense of adventure and exploration. The characters are diverse and enjoyable, the world and lore here is fascinating and the vehicle designs are spectacular to look at. I think the world has been waiting for and deserves a live action remake”- Jake the Human

“I hate that movie because I’m not even in it!”- Mickey Mouse

Well folks there you have. Different opinions from multiple people on what they think of the Disney 2001 animated movie “Atlantis: The Lost Empire”

5 Reasons Why Atlantis Deserves a Live Action Remake

There are at least 5 reasons why Atlantis deserves a live action remake.

-J.K. Simmons

1.) The World

The world that “Atlantis” takes is place truly beautiful. Taking place in 1914 makes the movie feel like an adventure right from the start. The scenes where Milo Thatch and the crew are traveling throughout the sea could make some breath taking visuals with todays technology. The caves that are explored could feel eerie and scary. And we can’t forget about Atlantis it’s self. The animation of this lost empire is amazing and seeing it come to life in a live action setting could really blow people away.

2.) Diverse Cast

I’m not going to talk about who the perfect cast would be for a live action remake. It is awesome that the crew that discovers Atlantis is so diverse. There are people from all over the country working together for one goal and all banding together in the end of the movie to do the right thing. It sends an awesome message, that I feel like can be forgotten about.

3.) Comedic Relief

There are times in this movie where things get king of dark and sad. And there’s always the perfect amount of comedic relief to brighten up that tone. It’s a good reminder that you are watching a Disney movie about a fun adventure.

4.) Room For Creative Freedom

Lets be honest. Not a lot of people remember this movie exists. Heck (yeah I said a cuss) not a lot of people even know what it is. And because of that I think there is a good reason to have a little room for creative freedom. Maybe the final battle goes down a bit differently. Or maybe Milo doesn’t work in a museum at the beginning. There is a lot of room to have some creative freedom that could help it appeal to people that may not be familiar with the movie.

5.) Action Sequences

This movie has a lot of fun action in it. And each scene could look incredible in a live action remake. The undersea fight with the Leviathan sticks out to me the most. And the final battle in the volcano could look incredible with all of the Atlantean ships flying through the air fighting Roarks troops in their biplanes. All of the action in this movie would look awesome in a live action remake.
